Silent Suffering

So much pain in her eyes,

Very few ever heard her cries.

Every time she tried to drown her sorrows,

It only led to worse tomorrows.

Wondering thoughts of the beach, sublime,

Always thinking, this time is the last time.

Still losing her balance far to often,

But far too stubborn to remain broken.

Why change? This life is all she knows,

Silently suffering, isn’t that how it goes?

Just floating thru life, never treated fairly.

Take the good with the bad, but isn’t it all just temporary?

So many emotions, back and forth, left in despair,

So close, but just never quite there.

And left behind the eyes, still silent suffering,

To be continued….Thoughts Buffering.

8 Ways to keep the kiddos busy during the Pandemic (Or Anytime) :)

Photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Pexels.com

Well the natives are getting restless if you are one of so many people stuck inside with their children. LOL. I don’t care if it’s the best family in the world, everyone is bound to get a little antsy after 8 + days home with each other. Maybe some family fun will lighten the mood 🙂

I have a wonderful but very busy 3 year old who is always looking for what’s next. I think all parents are looking for some good entertainment and new ideas for the family right now. So here are my top favorite ways that we’ve come up with to keep the adventures going.

1. Scavenger Hunts are a big hit in this house!

Now this one takes a little bit of parent prep time and creativity but it is totally worth it. I like to keep my daughter as active in the mind and body as I can during times like these or anytime at home really. I feel like the scavenger hunts keep us both thinking. So my favorite is one clue leads to another to another and so on, finally leading to a surprise at the end. (But there are many different ways as well, they vary online) Now I am lucky because Lily is easily amused, but whether it’s fresh baked cookies or an early Easter present at the end of the rainbow, the real fun is in the hunt. So example time: Have a starting point where you’ll have the initial clue, or multiple clues for multiple children. With Lily being younger it could make my example clues a little simple for some of the older kids but you get the point 🙂

Start Point Clue: This should start with ease, where does mommy hang her keys?

Clue #1: (Hanging Under where I hang my keys) Now I know you are looking for some direction, try checking your reflection.

Clue #2: (Hanging on the mirror) Hmm, Where to go now? I think we better brush our teeth, Can you show me how?

Clue #3: (On toothbrush holder) ….

So you get the idea right?! And this can go on for as long as you want to keep making clues. Here’s the best part, the whole time I’m secretly running Lily from the kitchen to the attic, back down to the bathroom, all over the house, back and forth. Running out some energy, utilizing some thinking skills, all while having a ton of fun!

2. Challenges are a wonderful way to make exercise fun.

I was lucky enough to get the pull up bar I wanted for Valentine’s Day. So our latest is the 3 Minute Hang Challenge. It may not sound like much but those who have tried it KNOW that it is hard and it hurts LOL. You can do this without a pull up bar, but it would definitely make it a little harder, I imagine. I watched a guy on YouTube fold up a towel and close it in the door to do pull ups, WOW! Anyway Hang Time Challenge is pretty self explanatory. See How Long You Can Hang! My personal record as of late is only 1:13 but I’m working my way up. Lily’s personal best is 17 seconds which I think is pretty awesome for 3 years old. We Also do a Mommy n Me One Minute Sit Up challenge. How many can you do in a minute? You can adjust any of these challenges to make them your own. Doesn’t have to be timed if you don’t like to feel rushed. If you like running, see who can run in place the longest. Adjust it to fit the parts of your own body that you want to work on. It’s more about pushing ourselves to our very own personal best. No matter what we’re doing, Right?!

3. Mastering the Art of Paper Airplanes.

Laugh if you want, but this craft really “took off” at our house! It was a very little and unexpected thing that turned into an all night adventure and still gets requests to this day! We had no idea how entertaining and time consuming these things of the past could be. But again, the goal is to stay creative about things. So decorate them and make them different. Or if you’re like me, google how to make them because you can’t remember LOL. Either way, race them, see who’s can fly the farthest? Big or Small…We love them all! LOL. Paper airplanes, who knew? I would absolutely LOVE feedback on this one! What did your family do? Was it SUPER fun…or just us?

P.S. You can also do this one with boats made out of recyclables laying around the house. Does it float? How many pennies can it hold?

4. Create A Story ( My own version of MadLibs )

This is a bit of a silly one, but could turn into a bloggers dream LOL. Like I said before, I have a very funny daughter and this works great with her. However it can be done with any age or amount of people. She gives me a word, I make a sentence. I give her a word and she makes a sentence. This could go on for some time depending on the mood that night. Other times, she only gives me words, which makes it a little easier to create a readable story but still hard to blend some of the random ideas together. A ton of fun for us and can surprisingly lead to some decent stories, and big laughs!

5. Make your own Bowling Alley.

We like to do this in a hallway or sometimes down the stairs if we’re feeling really crazy! So first things first, find your pins! We use 6 pins but it’s up to you. However they have to be close to the same size and unbreakable. So recyclables always work great! Next create a ball, anything from rubber bands to foil, we let Lily cheat and use her ball of choice. Finally set up and bowl away! Switch balls and pins, keep score, play for fun, rinse, repeat 🙂

6. Build a Fort.

A classic but always proven to inspire imagination. All hands and supplies on deck for the good ol’ fort build. Make tunnels, connect multiple forts, the options are endless. Throwbacks are a wonderful thing, nuff said LOL.

7. Create or Re-create a time or place by transforming a room

OK. This one can be simple or very in depth, choice is yours. Depends on time and resources available . The best personal example of mine is…wait for it. We completely transformed our third floor into the 70’s 🙂 There’s records, tapestry’s, lights, tye dye and lava lamps. The only technology aloud up there is the record player! No Phones, No Shoes, Just Quality Time, Old Music and Puzzles 🙂 So that’s a bit extreme, but maybe a princess dream house where you put everything pink in one room or blue for boys LOL. How bad would it really be to turn the living room into a ninja warrior course for a half hour? 🙂 Maybe Disneyland? Don’t have enough Disney stuff? Make it! Create ❤

8. Last but not least, THE FLOOR IS LAVA!

We have done this for hours, in one room, in all rooms, while cooking LOL. It can get interesting at times and is always a good one.

Well I guess that brings us to a conclusion for now. I truly hope you enjoyed this read and it opened up some new fun times for the whole family. I would LOVE and appreciate any feedback, comments, add ons, experiences, ect….

Victims of the Holocaust

If I were a victim of the Holocaust,

I would feel so very lost.

Just knowing that no one was there,

That pain alone I could not bare,

I wish Hitler was not so full of hate,

Maybe then people would have more faith.

If I were a victim of the Holocaust,

I would be one of the millions that were double crossed.

I think hope is a very special thing,

Without it, the pain has more of a bitter sting.

Prayer and hope is what got people thru,

At least that would be my view.

If I were a victim of the Holocaust,

I fear my heart would be just covered in frost.

The families worries would be never ending,

That’s the message people were sending.

The Holocaust happened many years back,

However thoughts of this horrible tragedy we shall never lack.

Financial Tips During 2020 Pandemic

It’s a difficult and unexpected time for many people all around the world. Not knowing how or when we will have an income again can cause a lot of stress and anxiety, but on a positive note, this generation is a lot luckier then ever before. We have many resources at our fingertips, obviously the internet is a big game changer.

  • Ever wonder if you can really make money from home? Well Now is the time to find out! Weather you find out you’re great at blogging or do a 5 minute paid survey for 50 cents, I personally think that right now anything is better than nothing.

I use to be away from the house 9 hours a day, 5 days a week minimum. If you put 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week into real effort on ways to bring in some money, everyone is bound to find something they’re good at! YouTube Channels have made millionaires, but i’m sure not without a lot of time and persistence put into it.

  • Many of us have lots of extra time at home to do some early spring cleaning. Maybe consider selling unwanted items online, take some pics and post to a couple of the many free marketplaces. Now might not be the best time for people to be exchanging things, but there’s always ways around physically contacting people now-a-days.

I don’t know about everybody else but I am holding on to everything I have right now, mainly because of my, “just in case” mindset. So in my opinion, if you don’t need it, don’t buy it. If it can wait to be paid, hold off. Many if not all utility company’s have issued no shut off notices. I’m pretty sure landlords can’t evict any tenants right now, and this is all comforting, but we’re going to have to pay it eventually. So I’m definitely not saying don’t pay the bills. I’m just sayin…

  • Maybe pay the minimums on your credit cards. I don’t think anyone really knows weather this pandemic is going to last a couple weeks or a couple months. One normal payment for me is 3 months of minimum payments, and again, “just in case” me would much rather continue to pay on time instead of over pay one month and not be able to pay the next month.

That being said this next part might seem contradicting, but watch the stocks right now. If you have any interest at all in the stock market, now may just be the time to keep a closer eye on things. Most people know the whole economy is hurt right now and the stock market is a big part of that. However…

  • Stocks like Tesla that were 8–9 hundred dollars per stock are now hitting a lot lower prices in the 3 hundreds. That’s a higher priced example, but if you have an extra 12$ in your stock account, what you could have bought 1 stock in at the beginning of the year you could buy 5 of now. So maybe watch some of the smaller stocks that aren’t going anywhere, and even if you could turn 12 dollars into 30 right now any profit would be nice.

The real penny pincher in me keeps going back to my Nana saying “Waste not want not!” Things we laugh at now seemed normal “back in the day”….like washing ziplock bags…yea seems funny, but what if it really comes to that? LOL. Most likely not, however, why not be over prepared rather than under.

This all may seem a little vague, but I really hope that it was helpful and triggered some ideas in your mind or sparked some motivation. Stay Safe❤

Be sure to check out my other “ During the Pandemic” stories…coming soon 🙂

Before the sunrise

Before the light of a new day, the house is cool, quiet, and a small flame flickers from the oil lamp on the table.

The sound of the coffee dripping in the bottom of the pot. Zig walks out slowly and has a morning stretch.

She fills a small red mug, and sits with a deep breath in thoughtful silence.

The steam from her coffee is warm and smells of fresh roasted hazelnuts.

Just before the first sip touches her lips, she feels pressure, she knows what’s coming.

The thoughts pour in, the rush comes with force, it seems the same as the morning’s previous.

Something is different today. They aren’t piling up, just flowing right through.

She stops and realizes the moment it happens, a shift in the process, a sigh of pure relief.

A smile, a tear, a drop of joy. That’s all she needs.

The pen hits the paper, the words begin to smoothly flow.

“Mama, I had a bad dream.” And away the cares go.

All before the start of the day, don’t get in your own way.

Embrace each moment, make it a place you want to stay!

Good Day. I said, Good Day!!

Today is a good day! I feel good, my energy is high and I am happy. Somedays that is all you need to make a great day, right? Now let’s be honest, not everyday is quite so easy huh?

Well I heard once that even if it’s not a good day, just start over! Make it a good day! Shake off and let go of everything that’s pissing you off. Do something that makes you feel good, and just Smile! Help others, get a haircut, write a positive blog post, or maybe go for a walk. Whatever your thing is, your happy place, go there and start the day over!

Easier said then done right? Well what if it wasn’t! What if it really was that easy to ensure every day is not only a good day, but a great day! If we aren’t happy then let’s change it! If we don’t change the things or situations making us unhappy then why would our emotions and feelings change?

I am so guilty of getting into a negative, complaining mindset and not only allowing it to ruin my mood, but my entire day, sometimes longer depending on the subject, day, time etc.. I call it the yellow snowball effect! One bad thought leads to the next and then decisions and emotions start flying, words come out and it’s all down hill from there.

I finally have come to the obvious realization that our lives are far too short and time is so precious that there is no time to waste with bad days and feeling yucky! Don’t get me wrong, I still get incredibly angry and emotional. I still get road rage, and I doubt that will change unless people start miraculously learning how to drive. I am not happy all the time and I’m still so far from complete self satisfaction that sometimes it seems out of reach. However, I feel different, in a great way. Like I am aligned with my higher power and everything is working as it should. I love making the next right decision for the right reasons and never doubting myself.

I “accidently” came across a video online of a Monk asking if I was angry and asking what I had to lose by trying this or that. I’m not sure why I let it play so long, but by the end of this 10 minute ad I was searching for more. I started practicing meditation, breathing techniques, affirmations, and positive self talk, which led to many open doors. I know it sounds crazy, but my anger really was getting the best of me. I’m a firm believer in “everything happens for a reason.” So since I had nothing to lose I tried some guided meditations a couple times a week or when I had time and it’s amazing how much better I feel.

It can be depressing how we let life and the world today suck us in and drain us of our creative happy sides. I hope this helps someone today to always look up and never give up!

Lots of Love 🙂

Power of Positivity

What do you believe? I personally have always believed in higher powers, yes, plural. I believe in God, and the Universe. In my world they are the two most powerful things I have ever felt. Now I know everyone is different and you may call yours, God, Buddha, Shiva, Allah, Yahweh, and I could list 100,000 more with deeper research around the whole world. Now can’t we all agree that no matter what we call our higher power, it is just that…something Powerful. Something beyond our sight, beyond our reach and beyond our controlling minds wildest dreams? Can we also agree that our Universe is an amazing miracle with more power then we can control. We are floating on a big ball in an infinite amount of energy. What if our tiny, (pea-sized, compared to the universe) brains could sync up not only with our body and soul, but what if we could sync up with the vibrations of the earth, all while being tuned into Gods frequency!!! Could you imagine all that power in one little human, what about 100 humans, 1000. All humans? Seem impossible? But with all that power everything is possible! There is no limit, not the sky, not the universe, nothing could stop us because we are one with everything. I know, I know …it’s deep, and I am probably starting to lose you a bit (laughing out loud).

Well here is the thing, I’m on the verge on something, amazing!! I want to tell you all about it, however, I don’t know what It, is yet. But I can feel it! I feel something different, like I am completely aligned with everything for the first time ever! Now keep in mind, this is coming from an anxiety ridden mess for the last 30 years, and all of a sudden, poof! I just have this crazy feeling of all my worries falling away and this amazing feeling of knowing with my whole being that everything is not only going to be okay but it is going to be great and so much more then i could have ever imagined not too long ago. At times I can visualize my future self in my perfect life, feeling the happiness in myself and knowing that I am on my way to that makes me so happy and excited right now that I shake or cry or sometimes both. Then I write and this comes out! So I guess this is just a glimpse of what is yet to come!

I cant wait to hear what others think and feel and I hope everyone reading this is blessed with warm feelings of happiness, love, and positive affirmations!

Anyone Else Freaking OUT?

The uneasy feelings have come back in full force as of late, but I can’t pinpoint one exact reason why. The condition of the world right now? Fear of the unknown in all our upcoming futures? A combination of both with added stresses piled on top? Sometimes it feels like too much for any one person to handle. The anxiety grows constantly and minds are becoming tiresome. The racing thoughts cause pure exhaustion. Where are the answers? At this point, it’s a real struggle to know for sure which way is up. I can feel myself drowning.

I start to see the light, I can almost feel the sun on my face. As I start to compose my thoughts, all I can think of is the refreshing breath of air I so desperately need. I open my eyes to see my beautiful daughter smiling at me. She touches my face with her soft small hands and says, ” I love you, mama. It’s going to be okay.”

I came to realize at that moment that I have no choice. Out of necessity, I must turn my million doubts into strength and determination. Knowing that I have to transform all the fears I have to the motivation I need to make sure my daughter never lives thru the struggle that became the norm in my childhood, well that’s a tall order.

Don’t we all want better for our children? Even people with the best upbringing still want that much more for their children and their children after that and so on. Isn’t that the goal for the majority of parents? Knowing that this perfect little life depends solely on me to give her every single need not only for survival but to live a happy and fulfilled life. Well, that is by far the most overwhelming feeling I’ve ever encountered. But like I said before, giving up is no longer a choice.

I’d love to thank American actress, Lily Tomlin, for more than a couple of quotes that I have grown to love. “The road to success is always under construction.” is one of my favorites because it’s so true! Isn’t construction the worse? How about if you happen to be one of the people left who drive a stick shift, too fast for first but not fast enough for second… Annoying! How do we handle it? Wait and inch our way thru it? Hot and complaining the whole time? Find an alternate route? What are your options? Go around or go thru, either way, aren’t we all hoping for smooth sailing on the other side of the roadblock? Well, I am! I refuse to give up until I find a clear path that is perfect for myself and my family. As much as I want to, and actually do break down at times, I’ve gotten back up that much more!

When you finish your favorite book for the 100th time, you close it up to put it back on the shelf to await another future read. Then what? What if you open some new pages to find your next new favorite. Not every closed door is The End. Sometimes if we’re lucky and determined enough to push thru, an end to an old favorite, as nice and comfy as it may be, is just the beginning for something else that much more wonderful! It’s much easier to talk and write about staying positive than to actually be positive, but please don’t give up!

15 Weeks

My heart is breaking,

My mind is aching.

My body is shaking,

My hands are quaking.

I am falling apart,

I think I knew from the start.

I wrap my arms around myself,

I have more emotions than I’ve ever felt.

Just crying all the time,

On the outside, ” I am fine.”

Thoughts of what to do,

How could we possibly make it thru?

But then, at just the right time,

I hear a heartbeat and know things will be just fine.

An overdue sigh of relief,

Followed by endless belief.

It's a New Day

I always complained that I never had enough time at home, and I’m finding out that is more then true! Today we hit the one week mark of being home, no work, no school, no ballet…and I know people are probably frustrated, anxiety ridden & financially strapped. I know I was freaking out at work when I first heard about everything going on. It was like a train wreck that I just could not stop reading into. Well after giving myself so much anxiety that it was giving me chest pains, I thought…there has to be a better way to spend my time, energy & thoughts. Also I can’t be alone in this snowball affect that we’re all going thru.

Now within the last week I started a third party blog thru a site called Medium. I’ve done tons of research on how people get thru hard times & helping others from home. I’ve looked into freelance writing because I’ve always liked to write and in hopes that some income was better then nothing. It helps that I am so chatty & opinionated, figured it’d be a good fit. LOL. I have started a YouTube page, and officially created my own website/ blog. Which anyone who knows me is probably laughing right now because I am the least tech savvy person out there. My mom always says I was born in the wrong generation and that I was probably meant to live in the 70s lol. I must have just missed the cut off or something, because everyone else my age seems to be great with technology. Luckily I have some very great people to help me along the way when I get stuck.

So I just wanted to write a quick post to share with everyone that I think I have finally turned my anxiety in to excitement. Don’t get me wrong, I am still petrified…I have no idea what I’m doing! I am a naturally an “all over the place” kind of person. I’ve always struggled with many many things throughout my life and change is always hard and scary for me. Like I would rather sit and be miserable in a terrible situation then just go thru a change to get thru it and to the other side. I got a fortune out of a cookie a long time ago and held on to it all these years because it reminds me to never stop growing, learning & living.

-It says, “Your life does not get better by chance, It gets better by change!”

Sweet Nothings

I never thought we’d end up together,

Honestly I thought it would all end with the cold weather,

But to my surprise it just keeps getting better and better.

Who’d have ever thought we’d end up together!

You make everything better, no matter the weather.

And now my favorite place to be is together❤
